Christine Kashuba

Christine Kashuba was born and raised in rural Alberta but has resided in Vernon since 1980 with her husband Keith where they raised three sons. Many hours were spent with the boys at the baseball park and the hockey rink. Now she loves to spend creative time with her eight grandchildren when they come to visit. Christine has been active in local arts organizations in a variety of ways over the years and most recently worked as the Program Director for the Vernon Community Arts. Centre and is serving as the Thompson Okanagan rep on the ArtsBC board.

In 2009 Christine graduated from UBC Okanagan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in printmaking and photography. When creating images Christine often begins with something that challenges her curiosity and makes her ask what the story is. The specific stories of people and places and how the combination of these things creates a memory that can be recalled and re-examined in the basis of her personal work. She is looking forward to the people, history, memories and stories that she will encounter working at Mackie Lake House.
