Artist in Residence

Artist-in-Residence Program 2017

Ann Willsie is a modern-day impressionist, living and working in the Okanagan. Ann’s oil paintings depict the splendour of the natural landscape around us, both large-scale panoramic vistas of fields, marshes, forests and mountains as well as close-up florals, trees and grasses.

Taking painting outdoors has become a recent passion for Ann. “Plein Air painting is a whole new way of looking at the world around us; it creates a new way of seeing, and gives us a new language for capturing the three dimensional on a two dimensional surface. Many of the field studies done en plein air have resulted in large scale paintings reproduced in the studio.”

Ann has been exhibiting her work for over 20 years across Canada, and her paintings are held in private collections around the world. Ann now paints and teaches workshops at her studio, Studio Cerulean in Lake Country, British Columbia
