Programs

The Mackie Lake House Foundation supports education, arts, culture and community through a variety of activities. The mandate of the Mackie Lake House Foundation is “to preserve and present the buildings, grounds and related history of Mackie Lake House for the enjoyment and education of the public.”

The Artist-in-Residence Program in partnership with the Vernon Public Art Gallery provides an artist with a place to pursue their artistic discipline in a tranquil location with time to create and participate in an exhibition.

Mackie Lake House Foundation provides a School Tour opportunity for Grade 3 students including a guided tour of the historic Mackie Lake House and an interactive experience in Fylton Forest. Fylton Forest is a part of the grounds left to grow mostly natural as a place to discover the native flora and fauna found in the Okanagan.  Open to schools year round, classes are invited to come and explore and learn from the resources at the Joan Heriot Environmental Centre.
