Programs

The Mackie Lake House Foundation supports education, arts, culture and community through a variety of activities and programs. The Foundation’s mandate is: “to preserve and present the buildings, grounds and related history of Mackie Lake House for the enjoyment and education of the public.”

The Artist-in-Residence Program, in partnership with the Vernon Public Art Gallery, provides space for artists to pursue their artistic disciplines in a tranquil location and to create and participate in an exhibition.

Mackie Lake House Foundation provides a School Tour opportunity for Grade 3 students including a guided tour of the Mackie Lake House and an interactive experience in Fylton Forest (a part of the grounds left to grow mostly naturally, allowing students to discover the native flora and fauna of the Okanagan). Open to schools year round, classes are invited to come and explore and learn from the resources at the Joan Heriot Environmental Centre.
